The Borderplex Alliance hosts a range of events to promote high-level conversations on the future of the North American Borderplex and the U.S.-Mexico relationship. Our signature annual events are the U.S.-Mexico Border Summit, held every summer, and the Distinguished Speaker Series, held on four occasions throughout the year. Through these events, we have brought speakers including U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Roberta Jacobson and former U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker to the North American Borderplex to discuss the most pressing issues facing our region and our world.
Distinguished Speaker Series
Held on four occasions throughout the year, our Distinguished Speaker Series brings internationally recognized leaders to the North American Borderplex to discuss the most relevant issues impacting the U.S.-Mexico border.
Our 2017 Series began with a presentation by Alejandra de la Vega Foster, Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development for the State of Chihuahua, and continued with a visit from U.S. Senator John Cornyn (TX). Planning is currently underway for our third event, which will be concurrent with the U.S.-Mexico Border Summit, and our fourth event, which will take place later in the year.
For more information on the Distinguished Speaker Series, contact Susan Melendez at 915-298-1000 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

2016 U.S.-Mexico Border Summit
At a time when national conversations about the border are skewed from reality, it was the perfect time to bring together the multiple leaders that work along our shared 2,000-mile border to collectively elevate the critical role border regions play in facilitating economic, social, and cultural transactions and transformations between our two nations for the 2016 U.S.-Mexico Border Summit. We are at the heart of U.S.-Mexico relations, and indicative of how important our place is that we hosted U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Roberta Jacobson, Mexican Ambassador to the U.S. Carlos Sada, Governor-elect of Chihuahua, MX Javier Corral Jurado, CEO of the San Diego Padres Mike Dee, Congressman Beto O’Rourke, and lots of other key folks from San Diego/Tijuana to Brownsville/Matamoros for a frank discussion about the realities that are at play at the border.
The Summit served as an opportunity for you to connect with other great leaders and potential collaborators. After all, the most important part of the summit is what comes next and how we translate the conversations into actions that move our border regions forward. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like us to make connections for you or to discuss potential partnerships, we are here to help.
El Paso Times, Las Cruces Sun-News, Albuquerque Journal, El Diario, and others, as well as an op-ed from Mike Gonzalez, Executive Director of our partner organization United Brownsville.
